MC68HC16 Interface to Serial EEPROM

Switching a MC68HC16 I/O pin from an output to an input creates a 1 microsecond pulse on the I/O pin. This prevents a simple two wire interface from the HC16 to a serial EEPROM. Three I/O pins and a transistor are required for this interface.

AD620 with Digitally Selectable Gain

An analog switch can be used to select the gain of an AD620 instrumentation amplifier. The analog switch may be a source of noise that is coupled to the gain set terminals. To reject this noise, the gain set resistance must be symmetric about the gain switch.

Fault Tolerant Multiplexer ESD Protection

To insure compliance with ESD test standards, add a protection device, such as a transzorb, to all fault tolerant multiplexer inputs that connect to external signals.

Without transzorbs, the device will fail at less than 5KV.

With transzorbs, the devie will survive at least 20KV.
